Common questions
Anything not covered here, call (978) 797-1851 and ask.
(978) 797-1851+ Which towns do you cover?
Boxborough plus Acton, Littleton, Harvard, Stow, Maynard, Westford, Concord, Bolton, Ayer, Hudson, Sudbury, Shirley, Carlisle, Dunstable, Tyngsborough and Groton — sixteen neighbouring towns across Middlesex and Worcester counties. Each has its own page on this site setting out what we actually see on the housing stock there. If you are just outside that ring, call anyway; it depends on the week.
+ How do I check whether a roofer is properly licensed in Massachusetts?
Ask for two numbers: the Construction Supervisor License (CSL) and the Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) registration. In Massachusetts, roofing work on an owner-occupied one-to-four family home needs both, and state law requires the HIC number to appear in advertising and on any contract over $1,000. Both can be checked free on the state's lookup tools. It is the fastest way to shorten a bid list, and you should apply it to us as well as to everyone else.
+ Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Boxborough?
Yes for a full replacement. It is filed with the Boxborough Building Department at 29 Middle Road through the town's PermitPro portal, and the town will not issue it unless the contractor's liability and workers' comp certificates are on file. We file it and coordinate the inspection. Small spot repairs usually do not need one.
+ Who actually turns up — a salesperson or the person doing the work?
Mark Sullivan, who owns the business, inspects the roof, writes the quote and is on site for the work. The trade-off is honest: we are small, so we are not always the fastest to get to you in the week after a big storm. What you get in exchange is one person accountable from the first phone call to the final walkthrough.
